Tips on Meditation and the Spiritual Path
It is a mistake to confuse guilt for love. Although we can
feel them each quite strongly, they are a world apart.
Guilt is profoundly Self-centered.
Guilt can make us say things such as:
• “I feel so bad for hurting you. “
• “I want to feel better about myself.”
• “What can I do to feel better about what I have
• “What grand gesture can I make to feel like a good
and loving person again?”
• “What can I do to earn forgiveness?”
What could all these statements have in common?
Selfishness has nothing to do with love or light. In fact, it
could be said that…
What then, should be our reaction to the suffering of
others… indifference? Not so much!
Nope, the truly spiritual reaction to the suffering of others
But what is that? How are we to define it?
Simply put, compassion is the intention to take away
another’s suffering, in the most wonderful way. Where guilt
is focused on self and it’s feelings, compassion is focused
Do notice that I did NOT mention the feelings of others.
Yes, it’s nice to be gentle with others’ feelings. But when
we have to choose between others’ needs or their comfort
then be sure to…
What are some of the reasons that guilt could focus on the
feelings of others?
• Guilt fears being hated.
• Guilt fears being seen as the villain.
• Fear is selfish and Guilt is selfishness
masquerading behind the facade of false spirituality.
That is why guilt finds it so easy to lie.
The is nothing truly spiritual about lying to protect
another’s feelings. Deceit is integral to the path of
darkness. Whereas honesty, vulnerability, integrity and
honor are crucial to the path of light.
Now let’s explore love…
Love is not concerned with popularity, or self-image. Love
drives us to drown our self-interest in the deep waters of…
Folks do not need our pretty lies even half as much as they
require our ugly truths.
No, living in integrity does not guarantee comfort,
popularity or acclaim. But if we desire that others grow,
flourish and thrive then they absolutely need the soul
stretching nourishment that only comes from us when we
live in integrity.
Where are we to find the strength to love others needs
even more then we love our own comfort?
Only Buddha’s mental yogas can train our hearts to love
others even more then ourselves.
Only Buddha’s mental yogas can tame our fear, anger,
sorrow and guilt.
Only Buddha’s mental yogas can meet all our true needs,
in the Most wonderful way.
