Lama Jigme's
Tips on Meditation and the Spiritual Path

Isn’t it funny how the origins of phrases, we use every day,
can get forgotten? “The Carrot or the Stick;” what’s that?
Is that a cartoon, like the one about the Coyote who’s
always chasing the Roadrunner?
Before we, or our parents, or our grandparents were born,
if we go back far enough, there was actually a time when
there were no cars. There was a time when carts were
drawn by beasts of burden. Nope not like the Rolling
Stones song…
but by actual beasts of burden like horses, oxen and
mules.
Imagine you’re a horse; it’s high-noon, blazing hot, iron
“shoes” have been nailed to your feet, and you don’t
particularly care to pull the enormously heavy cart that has
been harnessed to your shoulders.
So how is farmer John going to motivate you to pull that
silly cart?
Classically there are two ways he could get you to move
forward using either the proverbial…
Just as it sounds, farmer John could smack you with an
actual stick. In an effort to get away from the source of the
pain {the stick} you would move forward, thus pulling the
cart.
Children can often be a bit more tender-hearted then
adults, can’t they? And so a child might try to lead a pack
animal by walking just in front of it, while carrying a carrot,
just close enough to the animal’s snout to entice it, but just
far enough away to motivate the animal to advance, in
hope of devouring the tasty treat.
Of course we’re not, and yet we too could be driven by the
stick of fear, anxiety, stress, loneliness, anger and
annoyance. Could you ever find yourself recalling a
disturbing incident or fantasizing about what kinds of sad,
frightening, or infuriating things might happen? It kind of
sucks, doesn’t it?
What are some of the reasons it could be difficult to deal
with stress? What are some of the really lame things we
could do in the hopes of changing how we feel? Could we:
• drink more, or
• overeat or
• even snap at our loved ones?
True, unlike Hobbes, we may not go stupid for Tuna fish
sandwiches. But what are some of the things we could
moronically stagger after like a glaze-eyed, slack-jawed,
mouth-breathing zombie from a George A. Romero horror
movie?
Could we yearn for a new lover, a better job, a higher
salary, a nicer car, a more lavish home? Haven’t you ever
yearned for greater pleasure, notoriety, wealth, friends
and power?
Absolutely NOT! You were born to be centered, and to
enjoy contentment, peace and serenity.
The Teacher of the 1st Dalai Lama taught…
that one of tantra’s greatest secrets was to…
What does that mean? What are the most noticeable
results of full enlightenment? Great Peace! Have you ever
seen an anxious looking Buddha Statue? Of course not!
Many fools, who tout themselves as “Masters of
Metaphysics,” are really just manifestation-junkies! They
play on folk’s fear of lack and lust for wealth and lure them
into marginally effective practices that, at best, waste time
or, at worst, actually squander people’s collection of Good-
karma.
If there is a foolish and even dangerous way to manifest
things, could there also be a means of manifesting that is
both physically effective as well as spiritually beneficial?
That is exactly what you’ll get in the lesson:
In this fun class I’ll give you the secrets to:
• increase your good karma – so efforts to
manifest great peace in your life could be
profoundly fulfilled,
• rapidly meditate like a pro – so you can bypass
frustration and get on with the fun of transforming
your life,
• access your gut-level intelligence – so you can
free yourself from squandering time and
energy,
• unleash the power of your will – so you can really
feel the bliss of love,
• visualization for dummies – so seeing the
peace you desire, can be much easier and
more effective then you ever dreamt possible,
• enhanced clarity – so you can unleash the power
of the concentration you never knew you had, yet
always desired,
• emotional control – so you can finally let go of
all the garbage that has been weighing you
down,
• mantra magick – so you can become as powerful
as you’ve always wanted to be
• successfully create great peace in your life
while simultaneously increasing your
experience of love, concentration and the
wisdom of letting go – so you can progress
even further upon Buddha’s path to
full enlightenment in THIS life
Practice these easy exercises for just 12 minuets, twice
daily, every day, and with-in the first 20 days:
• you’ll feel more peace then you have in the past,
• you’ll feel more peace then you expect to, and finally
• you’ll feel more peace then you could ever
rationalize!
How much greater ease and bliss could you be lavished
with? There’s only one way to find out!
